Romford Golf Club, tucked away in Gidea Park, celebrated its 125 year in 2019. The club has the history to back up its age having been the home to the legendary Professional James Braid (1896-1904). Braid was the “British Open Champion” in 1901 whilst the Club Professional, an honour very few clubs can boast.
Current Professional, Chris Goddard, is an accredited A+ qualified coach and is experienced to coach every standard and available for lessons to all. His academy for youngsters is second to none in the county.
In the clubs celebratory year it was honoured to host the Essex Championship, Eastern Region Pro-am and a first for the county, an England Golf Championship.
The future looks good for the club, with new course manager Antony and planned investments this year in fairway watering, pond areas, bunkering, tees and greens drainage. New for 2020 there will be 5 buggies for members and visitors to hire.
The Club has an excellent social side with all the usual fun nights including Quiz Nights, Tribute Acts, Dinner Dances, Summer and Winter Balls.
The club prides itself on the daily playing groups where any member of any standard is welcome to join them and get a game, including Vets and Ladies. This is ideal for new members to quickly meet new friends and enjoy their new club.
