We are a family run company, established in 1991 with directors Sheila Watson and her children Claire, Peter and Sean. Sheila trained as a registered nurse and midwife followed by 25 years midwifery, followed by 5 years as a health advisor to the elderly, and obtained a diploma in gerontology. With this experience care of residents comes from the top down, this can be seen by the way residents are cared for by all staff.

St Michaels Homes Ltd comprises of two elderly care homes which are adjacent to each other. Howard Lodge and Dudbrook Hall, nestling in beautiful park-like gardens in Kelvedon Common on the outskirts of Brentwood, surrounded by beautiful Essex countryside.

Howard Lodge – State-of-the-art care home opened its new doors in 2014. Offering all residents modern bedrooms with en-suite/wet room facilities. The option of having accommodation with a private patio on the ground floor or sun terrace on the 1st floor is also available. Howard Lodge is split into 4 hamlets providing residential and dementia care. Each hamlet having its own lounge and dining rooms to create a smaller, friendly atmosphere. Baby and Toddler Sessions – Held within our beautiful community room on the premises of Howard Lodge Care Centre, with trained children’s specialists from Barnardo’s. Intergenerational care has great benefits for reducing depression and isolation in the older generation, it can also help with greater mobility and physical skills.
