Going the extra mile in elderly care
There is an increasing vulnerability among our older population, suffering from the effects of chronic loneliness and feeling like a burden to their families. St Michaels Homes shows the benefits our residents, and their families can have when living within Howard Lodge or Dudbrook House Care Centres.

Combat loneliness
According to Age UK, more than two million people in England over the age of 75 live alone and go for over a month without speaking to a friend, neighbour, or family member and this has only got worse with this dreadful pandemic. People can become socially isolated for a variety of reasons. Our care homes you can find fun, companionship and warmth within a safe and secure environment. What you can access through our homes is truly priceless. You’re welcomed into a warm, familiar environment where you can socialise and enjoy having a good chat, a home-from-home place to live.

Helping a care giver
With independent living, you may be relying on family members for support and care and often an issue for elderly people is feeling like a burden to their relatives or carers. Our care facilities offer respite care, so a short stay with us can help offer families the chance to recharge, while being reassured that their loved ones are safe and well cared for. It’s important carers get a break too. They need to take care of themselves so they can look after their loved ones and enjoy good quality time together. Our care homes give them the peace of mind to relax, knowing their loved ones are being cared for 24/7.

Action packed activities / events
Both the care homes have plenty on throughout the year, with our in-house activity teams having been as busy as ever trying to think of all the different things to do, based on each resident’s own interests and hobbies. All our residents have the opportunity to join in with activities and workshops. We organise arts and crafts groups, games, quizzes, spa days within our own hair salons, days out and much more. The feeling of belonging and having something other than the normal daily routine. The care homes are ideal for elders with care needs. It’s a supportive space for you to meet with others in similar situations within a safe and secure environment. You can benefit from meeting new faces and forming new friendship bonds with long serving staff and other residents and become part of our supportive community.

St Michaels Homes is truly a family-run care home operator and family are at the heart of everything we do and we love caring for the elderly. On behalf of our staff and family, we would like to thank everyone who has entrusted us with the care of their loved ones.
