BOSP (Brighter Opportunities through Supported Play) is a Billericay based charity (1107392) which has been supporting families for 25 years by providing short break care for their children and young people aged 4 years and up who have disabilities or life limiting conditions.
BOSP offers a wide range of regular clubs and activities at evenings, weekends and school holidays. Our main aims are:
• To enable children and young people, whether they have profound disabilities, require specialist feeding, have complex health needs or very challenging behaviours; the option to access activities readily available to their mainstream peers; whilst relieving family pressures by providing much needed respite.
• To deliver sessions as fun and dynamic as possible, in order to develop the children and young people’s independence, self-esteem and communication skills in a fun and supportive environment, so they can enjoy a better quality of life.
In addition to hall based clubs in Billericay, Basildon and Brentwood, BOSP offers ‘out and about’ group social opportunities in the community, such as bowling, cinema, climbing walls, steam train rides, night-clubbing and dining out in restaurants. This allows the young people to practise life skills such as handling money, social skills and road safety.
